Machine Operator
Summary
Responsible for operating and maintaining machines that facilitate the production of lifting slings, extruded products, and Selantic tethers.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Sets up, starts, and operates miscellaneous machinery that is part of the twisting, winding, braiding, sewing, extrusion processes.
- Selects and installs proper tooling and fixtures specific for the individual jobs
- Observes and monitors the machines throughout the production run. May be required to fill out logs to track key process parameters.
- Be available for any shift where training requirements are identified.
- Keep track of all materials used for each job and segregate the production material from the scrapped material.
- Perform daily preventative maintenance measures to keep the machines in top operating condition.
- Diagnose problems with machines and report them to the maintenance team to resolve.
- Understand and apply the Quality Policy, quality documentation, and company objectives to all tasks assigned
- Act in a safe manner in all activities performed and promote the Safety Program in all processes and procedures
Skills and Competencies
- Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.
- High level of mechanical aptitude
- Flexibility to rotate shifts as required
- Ability to work overtime as required
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; maintain effective working relationships
Education and Experience
Education Requirements: High School diploma or GED preferred.
Experience Requirements: 2+ years as extrusion operator and/or maintenance role
Physical Demands
- Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds required
Work Environment
Primary work environment is temperature-controlled workshop/manufacturing facility where following appropriate safety protocols at the location would be required. Employee will be exposed to moderate levels of noise in workshop.
