Legal Assistant
Essential Functions
- Reports
- Work monthly litigation report provided by area manager; code/note Oracle accordingly.
- Handle Tax Dockets and DWOP hearing dockets.
- Document Production
- Prepare and E-file Petitions, Amended Petitions, Disclaimers, Notices of Court Docket Settings, Notices of Cancellation, Interventions, and Judgments.
- Review document information (party info, tax account info, property situs/legal description).
- Code Oracle and ACT, mail documents to defendants, and upload all documents to the digital file room.
- Address Research
- Use integrated software and internet tools to locate defendants and necessary parties for citation issues, bad address returns, and improper service.
- Issue Citations/Citation by Posting
- Prepare and E-file Citations and Citation by Posting.
- Prepare Motions & Orders for Appointment of Attorney Ad Litem upon issuance.
- Forward Out-of-County Citations
- Mail citations to appropriate constable or sheriff’s department with cover letter.
- Enter citation costs into Oracle.
- Handle Inquiries
- Respond to inquiries regarding tax account status, payoffs, suit information, and payment agreements.
- Phone Support
- Answer taxpayer calls and handle inquiries from attorneys, lienholders, and title companies.
- Other Duties
- Perform all other duties as assigned to assist taxpayers, attorneys, and area managers.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Frequently required to sit, speak, and listen.
- Occasionally required to walk, use hands, and reach with arms.
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required, such as the ability to adjust focus.
Non-Essential Functions
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
- Experience with Title, Tax, Appraisal, E-filing, and Oracle is a plus.

Special Requirements
- High School Diploma required; College Degree is a plus.
- Experience with Title, Oracle, and E-filing preferred.
- Must be able to work a 40-hour week, including occasional rotating Saturdays.
